Editorial standards

These are the rules our articles are written to. They are short because they are meant to be kept.

Sources

We link to primary sources: a platform’s own help page, a company’s own announcement, a public statistics API, the video or post itself. A number in our text traces to a source a reader can open, and each article says when its figures were retrieved. Where we could not verify something, we left it out.

Quotations

Quoted words are the words as they appear in the source, with the source linked. We do not paraphrase inside quotation marks and we do not invent quotes.

Bylines

Articles are written by the New Media Dispatch staff and carry a staff byline. We do not attribute work to people who did not do it.

Independence

We do not publish sponsored content and we do not accept payment, products or favours in exchange for coverage. Our subjects do not see articles before publication.

Images

Images are credited to their source under the figure. Thumbnails and covers belong to the creators who published them and are shown to illustrate the work discussed.

Corrections

Errors of fact are corrected in the article and noted at the bottom with the date of the change. Corrections are also listed on the corrections page. Requests go to contact@newmediadispatch.com.
